The very first watched was sJs with a larger J and no dots in-between. The mounting direction is given on the tool. This ratchet is in full working order with a deep full klack, klack klack . Very solid

sJs early XK 120 lifting jack ratchet
This first Smith Jacking System SJS ratchet were supplied to the very first XK120’s. Later types had S.J.S. stamped on is rather then sJs. Good working order. Deep and solid clack-clack.
