Jaguar E Type Owners manual / handbook set

Jaguar E Type always had an owners manual set

Another important item and proof of authenticity is the original JAGUAR E TYPE owners manual set.  Not only valuable but also very interesting. The 3.8 had 5 editions with plenty of changes to describe  the changes on the actual production  year. Here an example of a  complete set of an early 3.8 XKE E Type

Very complete set of owners manual. The red dust cover was not always supplied as well as the Range leaflet.

Very complete set of owners manual. The red dust cover was not always supplied as well as the Range leaflet.

the 3.8 existed from E/122/1 to E/122/5 and had all some miner changes. (There was also a Jaguar reprint 122/6 in 1966 and 122/7 in 1970 available via the spare part division but never originally supplied with a car). Before a new edition was printed, Jaguar added amendments to the manual. The changes are not obvious but some are like the example below

3.8 E/122/2 with shelly jack
3.8 E/122/2 with shelly jack
3.8 manual E/122/3 mit metallifacture jack
3.8 manual E/122/3 mit metallifacture jack

First ever owners manual set for the E Type was edition 122/1 published in 3/61

From 3/61 to 11/61 Price 2.500 GBP near mint condition

In November 61 a first new copy was released numbered 122/2

From 11/61 to 10/62 price 2.200 GBP, very complete and near mint.

In October 62 the next edition 122/3 was released

From 10/62 to 11/63 price for this very complete set 1.650 GBP

The 122/4 is next in row from November 63 onwards

From 11/63 to 5/64 only 6 month hence a bit more rare

Price 1.650 GBP very complete near mint condition

Last official manual set 122/5

From 5/64 to end of series 3.8 in about August 64

Price 1.650 GBP near MINT condition

Jaguar E Type 122/6 is a genuine original owners handbook

The 122/6 was a genuine Jaguar print in 1966 and hence never been supplied with the delivery of a new 3.8. The manual 122/6 was available as a spare part.

Price 180 GBP condition is excellent

The 122/7 owners manual was an even later genuine Jaguar print in 1970 but this time the grease chart was black instead of red.

Price 180 GBP mint unused condition

From September 64 the new 4.2 engine was released and with it a complete new car with continuous improvements.

  5. Hi,
Great website! I have a 1968 late series 1 roadster, can you advise which manual/handbook I should get to match and what your cost/availability is. If you could advise the same for the tool pouch that would be very helpful (and tempting!) too.
    Many thanks,
    Jason

I need a full set of owners handbook manual etc. with all pouches.
My car is one of the last 3.8 FHC from 1964. I believe the handbook reference would be E/122/3. Are you able to help?

  8. I have been in touch through eBay – I just missed the last box spanner…
I have 1961 RHD FHC chassis 84. Did this car have a tool box or tool roll do you think?

Anyway, I presently have a box, which needs a box spanner amongst other things. Can you give me a price? I would also like to see any manuals/literature that you have that relate to an early 3.8 and how much they cost. Thanks! Jeff

  9. I have a mid-1965 E type (june or so build date) that is missing its’ book and pouch and believe the E/131/1 is the correct one that would have come with the car. Do you have a E/131/1 operating, maintenance and service handbook for sale? How about a pouch? How much would you charge, shipped to San Diego, California?

    Thank you.

    1. Hello Alberto,

thank you for your request. I have posted some pics here
There are two manual, one is really nice with only a shade on the front cover. The other one is good inside but cover is marked.
Please make me an offer and let me know which of the two manual you would be interested.

Shipping, will be something like 12 Euro for insured and tracked postage.

For further question, please mail me.

I have a 1961 Jaguar e-type FHC (flat floor). Can you advise which owners manual/handbook and pouch I would need and if you have this in stock? If so, please let me know how much you would want for it as well.

    1. Hello,
      thank you for your interest.
Depending on your VIN you would need the E/122/1 or E/122/2
Do you have the bottle type Shelly jack or already the metallifacture jack?
Here you have a little help as orientation of which jack you should have.
      Waiting for your answer.
      Kind regards
      Maikel

      1. Hi Maikel –
Do you have the E/122/1 or 2 for sale? Perhaps with lube chart? I would also be interested in the Shelley bottle jack droop snout LJ225.
        Please advise,
        Jan Waanders
